Given that production is just underway, she’s loath to discuss specifics about it, admitting, “I will wait until the film is finished. I cannot talk about a film when I’m in the process of shooting; it’s not possible.”
Still, she’s not coy about the obvious reason she chose to collaborate with the Twilight and Good Time star, proclaiming that Pattinson’s allure is undeniable. “What’s appealing to me [about him] is appealing to everyone, I guess. Is appealing altogether. I’m very happy with him!”

In 2018 Twilight fans around the world will most definitely be celebrating the film’s ten-year anniversary. One person who won’t be? The film’s star Robert Pattinson.

In 2008 Pattinson joined the cast of what was then a little indie film called Twilight that would go on to become a major movie juggernaut spawning four more movies, a passionate fan base and more fan fiction than one could ever read.

And it turned Pattinson’s life into a free for all.

It’s no wonder then that the actor, who in the five years since the last film was released has stepped away from the world of franchises and chosen to work with a carefully selected group of auteurs, has chosen to lock that part of his early career away.

When asked by Metro.co.uk if he had any plans to celebrate the anniversary, he was shocked to realise that ten years had indeed passed and that his only plan was to ‘work’ and keep himself busy.

‘I’m trying to avoid… I’ll probably just get some work done,’ he said.

Selon The Playlist, c'est sans doute l'adaptation d'un roman du même nom de l'auteur Donald Roy Pollock. La production du film devrait débuter d'ici la fin de l'année.

Après ce qui est sans doute deux des meilleures performances de sa carrière dans THE LOST CITY OF Z de James Gray et GOOD TIME de Safdies, Robert Pattinson ne change pas de direction. L'acteur continue de choisir des rôles audacieux avec des réalisateurs auteurs, et son prochain film semblerait être à nouveau un projet captivant.

Plus tôt dans l'année, il a été révélé que Pattinson allait travailler sur un projet sans nom avec Antonio Campos, le cinéaste de"Christine", "Simon Killer" et "Afterschool". Esquire a maintenant révélé que le titre du film est "The Devil All The Time ", et il semble que l'acteur va se plonger dans un rôle assez intense.

"Il y a cette ligne directrice - et parfois c'est tout ce dont vous avez besoin. Et c'est comme, 'Ooh ... c'est effrayant à dire'. Parce qu'il va passer à la postérité et je serai celui qui l'a annoncé. Il n'y a pas plus sombre. C'est un film sacrément sombre. Ce personnage est un prédicateur évangélique du Sud dans les années cinquante, mais il adore être mauvais et il est en quelques sortes drôle et charismatique aussi. Je sais, c'est irrésistible", a expliqué Pattinson.

Il ajoute que le personnage peut être sexuellement répugnant et violent aussi, mais cela ajoute encore plus à l'attrait du rôle. "... vous savez quand les acteurs disent:" Je refuse de jouer le rôle de quelqu'un qui a fait quelque chose de mal." Je me dis, comment, mais pourquoi? C'est complétement dingue. On ne peut rien faire de mal dans la vie réelle. Je pense que si quelqu'un a besoin de jouer un héros tout le temps, c'est probablement parce qu'ils font vraiment des choses répugnantes dans leur vie réelle. "

Tout cela fait vraiment penser que le film pourrait être une adaptation du livre de Donald Roy Pollock, qui se déroule dans les années 1950, et qui compte aussi un prédicateur parmi une foule d'autres personnages excentriques, dans ce qui ressemble à un conte sombre et complétement tordu. Il y a Carl et Sandy Henderson forment un couple étrange qui écume les routes et prend de jeunes auto-stoppeurs qui connaîtront un sort funeste. Il y a Roy, un prédicateur convaincu qu'il a le pouvoir de réveiller les morts, et son acolyte Theodore, un musicien en fauteuil roulant, vont de ville en ville, fuyant la loi et leur passé. Et pris au milieu de tout cela, Arvin Eugene Russell, Willard et le fils orphelin de Charlotte, qui grandit pour être un bon mais aussi un homme violent à part entière. 

La production devrait commencer d'ici la fin de l'année, et entre ce projet et 'High Life' de Claire Denis, il semble que nous ayons beaucoup à attendre de Pattinson.

Coming off what are arguably two of the best performances of his career in James Gray‘s THE LOST CITY OF Z and the Safdies‘ GOOD TIME, Robert Pattinson isn’t changing course. The actor is continuing to chase challenging roles with auteur directors, and his next sounds like it’s going to be another barn burner.

Earlier this year it was revealed that Pattinson was teaming up on an unnamed project with Antonio Campos, the filmmaker behind “Christine,” “Simon Killer,” and “Afterschool.” Now, Esquire has revealed the title of the film is “The Devil All The Time,” and it sounds like the actor is diving into a pretty steamy role.

“There’s this line in it — and sometimes that’s all you need. And it’s like, ‘Ooh… that’s scary to say’. Because it’ll go down in posterity and I’ll be the one saying it. You literally cannot get darker. It’s fucking dark. This character is an evangelical preacher in the South in the Fifties, but he’s gleefully bad and kind of funny and charismatic too. I know, it’s irresistible,” Pattinson explained.

He adds the character might be sexually repulsive and violent too, but that just adds to the appeal of the role. “…you know when actors say, ‘I refuse to play someone who does something bad.’ I’m, like, why? That’s fucking crazy. You can’t do anything bad in your real life. I think if someone needs to play a hero all the time, it’s probably because they’re doing really gross stuff in their real life.”

It all sounds like the film is an adaptation of the book by Donald Roy Pollock, which is set through the 1950s, and also features a preacher alongside a row of oddball characters, in what sounds like a dark and twisted tale. Here’s the book synopsis:

Set in rural southern Ohio and West Virginia, The Devil All the Time follows a cast of compelling and bizarre characters from the end of World War II to the 1960s. There’s Willard Russell, tormented veteran of the carnage in the South Pacific, who can’t save his beautiful wife, Charlotte, from an agonizing death by cancer no matter how much sacrifi­cial blood he pours on his “prayer log.” There’s Carl and Sandy Henderson, a husband-and-wife team of serial kill­ers, who troll America’s highways searching for suitable models to photograph and exterminate. There’s the spider-handling preacher Roy and his crippled virtuoso-guitar-playing sidekick, Theodore, running from the law. And caught in the middle of all this is Arvin Eugene Russell, Willard and Charlotte’s orphaned son, who grows up to be a good but also violent man in his own right. 

Production will reportedly start by the end of the year, and between this and Clare Denis‘ “High Life,” it looks like we have plenty to look forward to from Pattinson.

Pourquoi vouliez-vous jouer dans Good Time ?
J’adore les clips vidéo sous très haute tension, et je rêvais de trouver un long-métrage qui aurait la même adrénaline. Les frères Safdie ont insuflé de bout en bout ce genre d’énergie explosive, tout en signant un film minutieux et contrôlé. Je ne sais toujours pas comment ils ont accompli un tel exploit.

D’où vous vient ce désir d’urgence ?
J’ai tendance, quand je fais un film, à avoir l’impression qu’il sonne faux, ou que je suis moi-même un imposteur, et dans ce cas je me rétracte. Je ne livre qu’une prestation superficielle, en gardant pour moi mon côté plus complexe, ou du moins plus angoissé. Depuis plusieurs années, je me disais que, pour sortir de ce piège, il me faudrait un metteur en scène qui serait si rapide que je n’aurais pas le temps de réfléchir. Je cherchais quelqu’un qui me per- mettrait d’être plus instinctif.

Télé-Loisirs. Pourquoi venez-vous souvent en France ?
Robert Pattinson. J’ai une grande admiration pour ce pays et plus particulièrement pour sa culture. Pour moi, la France est en quelque sorte le pays du cinéma. C’est la raison pour laquelle je me rends le plus souvent possible au Festival de Cannes. Les Français sont tellement à la pointe du septième art.

Est-ce aujourd’hui encore difficile pour vous de faire oublier vos années dans Twilight ?
Au fil du temps, je crois avoir prouvé qu’il y a une vie après Twilight. Les gens ont été tellement obsédés par mon personnage d’Edward qu’ils me voyaient en fait beaucoup plus beau que je suis en réalité (il rit). Vous ne pouvez pas vous imaginer le nombre de fois où je me suis fait accoster dans la rue par un fan de cette saga me disant que j’étais beau alors que j’étais tout simplement dégueulasse !

Avec votre dernier film Good Time, vous semblez vouloir briser votre image de playboy. Pour quelle raison ?
Pour vous dire franchement, j’ai toujours été surpris d’être considéré comme un beau gosse. Le fait de penser que je puisse être vu comme un playboy me choque totalement, car il m’est impossible de le concevoir. Je crois que c’est seulement à cause de Twilight car, auparavant, je ne décrochais jamais des rôles destinés à des jeunes premiers. Au contraire, c’était toujours pour incarner des sales mecs.

Ces dernières années, vous semblez avoir réussi à vous échapper du système hollywoodien. Quel est votre secret ?
Je vis désormais à Londres, loin de Los Angeles. J’ai quitté Hollywood car je ne supportais plus la présence et le harcèlement constant des paparazzi. Finalement, je me suis rendu compte qu’ils disparaissent progressivement de cette ville pour laisser place à des gens qui prennent eux-mêmes leurs propres photos et les publient ensuite sur Internet. Le fait aussi de ne jamais participer à des galas ou soirées mondaines aide également à ne plus être en permanence sous les feux des projecteurs.

Vous semblez aujourd’hui épanoui à la fois dans votre vie privée (avec la chanteuse FKA Twigs, ndlr) et votre carrière. Qu’aimez-vous faire lorsque vous ne travaillez pas ?
La musique joue un rôle très important dans ma vie. Je continue de mon côté à jouer de la musique le plus souvent possible car cela fait parti de mon équilibre. Etre musicien me permet en permanence de m’évader.

Vous avez dit vouloir tourner avec les plus grands réalisateurs européens. À quand Pattinson en tournage en Suisse romande?

Je suis ouvert à toutes les propositions. Si un réalisateur suisse lit Le Matin du Soir et veut me proposer un scénario original, dites-lui bien qu’il n’hésite pas! Je me moque du budget, rien à faire de la taille de ma loge et de voyager en première classe. Si je voulais seulement le luxe et le fric, je tournerais à Hollywood toute l’année dans des franchises de super-héros. Ce qui me stimule, c’est un excellent script avec un metteur en scène visionnaire qui va me pousser au-delà de mes limites. Je viens tourner à Lausanne demain si vous me trouvez ça!

Vous êtes sérieux?

Chaque fois que je commence un film, je pense qu’il s’agira du dernier. Je n’ai jamais l’impression d’être une star ou que ma carrière durera éternellement. Alors, je recherche toujours de nouveaux projets.

'Good Time' to be Released on November 3 2017 in the UK

A24 and Curzon Artificial Eye will jointly release Josh and Benny Safdie’s Good Time in the UK.

The crime thriller, which stars Robert Pattinson, has been given a release date of November 3.

Premiering in competition at Cannes Film Festival in May this year, the film had a limited released in the US on August 11, grossing $400,000 to date, and is set to go wide today (Aug 25).

The deal takes Curzon’s slate of titles from this year’s Cannes competition to eight, including best screenplay winner The Killing Of A Sacred Deer and Palme d’Or winnerThe Square.

A24’s recent activity in the UK has included releasing Sundance hit A Ghost Story in partnership with Picturehouse, and the Oscar-winner Moonlight in partnership with Altitude.

Louisa Dent, managing director of Curzon Artificial Eye, said on the Good Time deal: “We were blown away when we saw Good Time in Cannes, so of course we are tremendously excited to be partnering with A24 on the UK release.

“Josh and Benny have created a propulsive, gripping thriller and Robert Pattinson’s central performance is truly something to behold. Likewise we are delighted to be working with A24. Their productions have been strong favourites within the company and with Curzon customers alike.”

A24 added in a statement: “We are thrilled to be furthering our direct distribution in the UK with the upcoming release of Good Time. This is exactly the kind of film A24 was designed to do—a bold, original, and exhilarating vision, created by two of the most talented filmmakers working today.

With the release of “The Lost City of Z” and “Good Time,” 2017 may well be remembered as the year Robert Pattinson officially became a critics’ darling.

Some might claim the shift began in 2012, when the British actor, still best known for setting hearts aflutter in the “Twilight” movies, drew raves for his change-of-pace performance in David Cronenberg’s art-house chiller “Cosmopolis.” Since then Pattinson has reteamed with Cronenberg on “Maps to the Stars,” done further career-redefining work in David Michôd’s dystopian thriller “The Rover,” and earned plaudits for his appearances in films including Werner Herzog’s “Queen of the Desert” and Anton Corbijn’s “Life.”

But his versatility has never been on such dazzling display as it has this year, first with his shrewdly underplayed supporting role as the real-life Amazon explorer Henry Costin in James Gray’s “The Lost City of Z.” He followed that with his arrestingly deglamorized star turn as an amateur bank robber in Josh and Benny Safdie’s thriller “Good Time,” which opened in theaters Friday.

The steady accumulation of prestigious world-cinema names on Pattinson’s résumé represents the fulfillment of a dream that took root during his teenage years. Well before “Twilight” sent him into the celebrity stratosphere, Pattinson says, he was an obsessive film buff with a particular passion for French art cinema. Even critics who have been slow to appreciate the actor’s talent (guilty as charged) would likely approve of his taste, which has steered him toward favorites as different as Jean-Luc Godard, Leos Carax, Claire Denis and Herzog.

This month, Pattinson is headed to Poland to begin shooting the sci-fi adventure film “High Life,” the first English-language project directed by Denis, whose films he began watching avidly as a teenager. Pattinson’s other forthcoming projects include “Damsel,” a period western costarring Mia Wasikowska and directed by David and Nathan Zellner (“Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter”), and “The Souvenir,” a two-part romantic mystery from British director Joanna Hogg.

Have you always been an avid moviegoer?

I was into movies before I was even remotely into acting. I basically approached my career, at least for the first 10 years of it, trying to re-create my DVD shelf from when I was 17.

Tell me what was on that DVD shelf.

You could literally look at my IMDb page and see. James Gray was a massive one. Claire Denis. [Werner] Herzog. These are people I’ve just been crossing off the list. There was a lot of [Jean-Luc] Godard.

Outside the Bowery Hotel in downtown Manhattan, where I interviewed Pattinson on Thursday morning, a cabal of paparazzi clutched their cameras in anticipation. For this I felt persuaded to apologize by way of introduction. It must feel suffocating to sit on the other side of such vultures. 

Pattinson pled ignorance. “I just came in and they weren’t there,” he said, playfully defiant. “I’m almost certain it’s not about me, though.”

Who else would they be looking for?

“I go in and out, and I’m like, ’They’re not following! It’s clearly someone else,’” he said, almost proud at the realization that maybe there’s somebody more sought-after in the building. Doubtful. If anything, his comment proved that he’s all too familiar with the dance that occurs between shutterbug and famous subject. After all, this is the man who, according to a GQ profile published last week, rode around in the trunks of cars and parked rental vehicles throughout Los Angeles in case he needed to make a quick getaway. He’s depressingly well-trained in the art of paparazzi circumvention.

With the role that made him super-famous five years in the rearview mirror, Robert Pattinson is returning to theaters in his first leading role since the end of the Twilight franchise. The 31-year-old British actor stars as a low-life New York criminal named Connie Nikas in the critically acclaimed Good Time.

In the exclusive clip above, which is a snippet from the movie’s opening scene, we first meet Connie’s brother Nick (played by co-director Benny Safdie), who has developmental disabilities, as he’s speaking to a psychiatrist (Peter Verby). Pattinson’s character barges into the office to drag his brother out, triggering a very twisty plot that before long will lead to the two brothers on the run from the police after a sloppy bank robbery.

Pattison spoke to EW about finding the look, sound, and essence of his character. His performance has been generating awards buzz since the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Good Time is in limited release now and expanding to more cinemas in coming weeks.
