Juliette Binoche, Tim Roth et Robert Pattinson sont attachés à 'The Childhood of a Leader' (L'enfance d'un leader), un nouveau drame qui sera réalisé par Brady Corbet.
Ce sera le premier long métrage de Corbet, après avoir remporté une mention honorable au Festival de Sundance en 2009 pour son court métrage "Protect You + Me."
Le drame, qui raconte l'enfance d'un leader après la Première Guerre mondiale, devrait sans doute se tourner en Europe à partir de mai. Corbet a co-écrit le scénario avec Mona Fastvold, la réalisatrice du drame à bientôt à Sundance 'The Sleepwalker.' Il sera produit par Antoine et Martine de Clermont-Tonnerre, Chris Coen et Amour Fou.
Corbet, la star du film indie de cette année à Sundance "Simon Killer," vient de finir de jouer dans 'While We're Young' de Noah Baumbach, 'Paradise Lost' de Andrea Di Stefano et 'Saint Laurent' de Bertrand Bonello.

Tim Roth complète ce trio de tête niveau casting dans le film co-écrit par Mona Fastvold et l'acteur Brady Corbert ("Melancholia", "Simon Killer") qui raconte l'histoire, comme vous l'aurez deviné en lisant le titre - de l'enfance d'un leader d'après Première Guerre mondiale. Lequel? Ne demandez pas car pour le moment, le site Variety ne le dit pas. Cela étant dit, nous devrions en savoir plus bientôt.
Tout semble bien se combiner pour que le tournage débute en mai à l'étranger, avec Corbet qui fera là son premier long métrage. Alors ajoutez ça à la liste croissante de projets intrigants qui sont à venir pour Pattinson.

Juliette Binoche, Tim Roth and Robert Pattinson are attached to “The Childhood of a Leader,” a new drama directed by Brady Corbet, Variety has learned.
The pic is Corbet’s feature directorial debut, after winning honorable mention at Sundance in 2009 for his short “Protect You + Me.”
The drama, which tells the childhood of a post-World War I leader, is tentatively scheduled to shoot in Europe starting in May. Corbet co-wrote the script with Mona Fastvold, the director of the upcoming Sundance drama “The Sleepwalker.” It will be produced by Antoine and Martine de Clermont-Tonnere, Chris Coen and Amour Fou.
Corbet, the star of this year’s Sundance indie “Simon Killer,” just wrapped roles in Noah Baumbach’s “While We’re Young,” Andrea Di Stefano’s “Paradise Lost” and Bertrand Bonello’s “Saint Laurent.”

Everything
is coming together for shooting to start in May overseas, with Corbet
making his feature directorial debut. So add this to Pattinson's growing
list of intriguing projects that he has coming down the line.

Corbet est sur le point de se lancer dans son pari le plus redoutable et et le plus risqué à ce jour. Dès
qu'il aura fini de tourner Paradise Lost, il retournera à Paris pour commencer
la préparation de son premier long métrage en tant que scénariste et réalisateur. Et
ce ne sera pas sans difficultés: un drame de l'époque de la seconde guerre mondiale appelé The Childhood of a Leader,
qu'il a l'intention de filmer en anglais et en français sans accroche au niveau du genre ni de contenu explicite émoustillant. "C'est l'histoire d'une famille américaine qui doit se rendre en France pour la conférence de paix à Paris," dit Corbet. "Mais c'est vraiment une fable sombre sur ce petit garçon qui grandi au cours d'une période très chargée politiquement dans l'histoire mondiale." Corbet est bien conscient que pour beaucoup, ça pourrait paraitre quelque chose de difficile à vendre. "J'essaie de trouver des façons nouvelles et évocatrices pour en parler afin que ça ne sonne pas aussi ennuyeux, car l'histoire est très formelle, mais c'est aussi presque un thriller. Ça flirte avec le genre thriller pour sûr. Oui, c'est un film étrange. Je crois que j'ai toujours été passionné par tout ce qui se semble difficile".

Corbet is about to embark on his most daunting and risky gamble to date. As soon as he wraps Paradise Lost, he heads back to Paris to begin prep on his debut feature as a writer-director. And it’s a doozy: a WWI-era period drama called The Childhood of a Leader that he plans to film in both English and French with no genre hook or titillating graphic content. “It’s about an American family that has to go to France for the Paris peace conference,” Corbet says. “But it’s really a dark fable about this little boy coming of age during a very politically charged period in world history.” Corbet is well aware that to many it might seem like something of a tough sell. “I’m trying to find new and evocative ways to talk about it and make it sound not so dry because it is very formal, but it's almost a thriller. It flirts with being a thriller for sure. Yeah, it's a strange film. I guess I’ve always been passionate about anything that feels difficult.”
