York avec l'avant-première de 'The Lost City of Z.'
“On avec littéralement l'impression que les gens allaient mourir,” dit Robert Pattinson dans le hall Alice Tully à Manhattan ce Samedi soir. Alors que plusieurs personnes du casting du film de Pattinson, “The Lost City of
Z,” ont parlé d'un régime alimentaire extrêmes et d'entrainements très strictes pour se préparer au tournage, l'acteur Britannique a été marqué par une intensité plus vague “C'est un des films les plus fous sur lesquels j'ai pu travailler,” il ajoute. “Le tournage était hallucinant.” (...) “James m'a envoyé le livre il y a environ six ans, seven years ago,” nous dit Pattinson à propos du film de David Grann. “Et c'était alors un casting totalement différent, et un script différent. “People literally seemed like they were going to die,” Robert Pattinson said from the safe grounds of Alice Tully Hall in Manhattan on Saturday
night. While several in the cast of Pattinson’s film, “The Lost City of
Z,” spoke of extreme diets and strict workout regimes to prep for
filming, the British actor noted a more vague intensity. “It was one of
the craziest movies I’ve ever worked on,” he added. “The shoot was
insane.” (...) “James sent me the book maybe six years
ago, seven years ago,” Pattinson said of the David Grann book. “And it
was with an entirely different cast, and a different script. I think
it’s gone through three different iterations of casts since I’ve been
attached – I’m the only one who was originally involved. He shoots like
people don’t really shoot anymore – this film is so beautiful. And I
think films nowadays just aren’t as pretty as James’ movies are.” (...)

shoot — nearly 35 pounds, we weren't eating the entire time — that when I
shaved it off, it was like I had no bottom half of my face. I was like a

Gray utilise les genres comme un Cheval de Troie pour examiner la masculinité et le dysfonctionnement familiale, il sera donc intéressant de voir ce que Gray fait avec ce film qui résonne comme un “Apocalypse Now”. follows up the intimate chamber drama, “The Immigrant,” with his most
ambitious film to date. Based on the titular book by David Grann, “The
Lost City Of Z” centers on a knowledge-thirsty English explorer who
leaves the comfort of his family to travel to South America and look to
discover a rumored lost city in the middle
of the Amazonian jungle. Perilous and potentially foolhardy, the quest
is heart of darkness journey down the rabbit hole of jungle of
claustrophobia. Starring Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland,
Sienna Miller, and shot once again by Darius Khondji, the epic-sounding
‘Lost City Of Z’ said to be influenced by David Lean and Francis Ford
Coppola, is easily Gray’s biggest film to dates and widest in scope
ever. Gray uses genre as a Trojan horse to examine masculinity and
family dysfunction so it will be interesting to see what Gray does with
this “Apocalypse Now”-sounding picture. Additionally, Gray’s picture has
the distinction of being the festival’s closing night film.

Il y avait beaucoup de spéculations concernant quel Festival du film accueillerait l'avant-première de 'The Lost City of Z'. On avait entendu parlé de Venise, du TIFF, et même de Cannes, et finalement il sera au Festival de New York en Octobre prochain! Nous ne savons pas encore si Rob sera présent alors croisons les doigts!

The Lost City of Z, écrit et réalisé par James Gray (The Immigrant,
Two Lovers), clôturera les 54ème Festival du Film de New York. Le film, basé sur le livre non fictionnel du journaliste David Grann du même nom, fera son avant-première mondiale lors de la projection du gala de clôture le samedi 15 Octobre 2015.
L'épopée émotionnellement et visuellement resplendissante de James Gray raconte l'histoire du lieutenant-colonel Percy Fawcett (un Charlie Hunnam remarquable), le militaire britannique devenu explorateurdont la recherche d'une ville perdue au fin fond de l'Amazonie devient progressivement une obsession fiévreuse sur plusieurs décennies, et qui fini par ternir sa réputation, sa vie personnelle avec sa femme (Sienna Miller) et ses enfants, et son existence même. The Lost City of Z, written and directed by James Gray (The Immigrant,
Two Lovers), will close the 54th New York Film Festival. The film, based
on journalist David Grann’s nonfiction book of the same name, will make
its world premiere at the festival’s final gala screening on Saturday,
October 15.
James Gray’s emotionally and visually resplendent epic tells the story
of Lieutenant Colonel Percy Fawcett (a remarkable Charlie Hunnam), the
British military-man-turned-explorer whose search for a lost city deep
in the Amazon grows into an increasingly feverish, decades-long
magnificent obsession that takes a toll on his reputation, his home life
with his wife (Sienna Miller) and children, and his very existence.
Gray and cinematographer Darius Khondji cast quite a spell, exquisitely
pitched between rapture and dizzying terror. Also starring Robert
Pattinson and Tom Holland, The Lost City of Z represents a form of epic
storytelling that has all but vanished from the landscape of modern
cinema, and a rare level of artistry.
“James Gray is one of the finest filmmakers we have,” said New York Film
Festival Director and Selection Committee Chair Kent Jones. “Each of
his movies is so beautifully wrought, visually and emotionally, but The
Lost City of Z represents something new. It’s a true epic, spanning two

Katagas, and Dale Armin Johnson, and is executive produced by Brad Pitt
and Marc Butan.
Tickets for the 54th New York Film Festival will go on sale September 11.
