'Idol's Eye': Mises à Jour concernant le Projet d'Olivier Assayas' avec Robert Pattinson, Sylvester Stallone & Rachel Weisz

Via le site La Nacion, nous apprenons que le réalisateur Français Olivier Assayas est en Argentine pour présenter son film 'Personal Shopper' au Festival du Film Mar del Plata. Il a parlé un peu de ce qui c'était passé en 2014 avec 'Idol's Eyes'. Il n'y a pas encore de date fixe mais il a mentionné Mars comme date possible de tournage et ça ne se fera plus au Canada pour cause de contraintes budgétaires. Il dit que les acteurs sont confirmés. Et il ajoute qu'il a désormais le contrôle sur son film, ce n'est plus sous le contrôle d'Hollywood. "La seule chose positive de cette expérience est de pouvoir faire un film avec Stallone, Pattinson et Weisz." dit Assayas à propos du casting de 'Idol's eye'.

From La Nacion website and translation by our friend Flavia, we learn French director Olivier Assayas is in Argentina presenting his movie 'Personal Shopper' at the Mar del Plata Film Festival. He talks a bit about what happened with 'Idol's Eyes' in 2014. There is no dates yet but he does mention March as start date and that they will no longer film in Canada due to new budget constraints. He says actors are confirmed. And he says he has control of the movie now, not Hollywood. "The only good thing of this experience is to be able to film with Stallone, Pattinson or Weisz." says Assayas about 'Idol's eye' casting.

(...) Houda Benyamina, encore inconnue des radars il y a huit mois, n’était pas venue à Los Angeles pour assurer uniquement le service après-vente de son film [Divines]. Désormais représentée par un agent américain, elle a aussi commencé activement la préparation de son prochain long-métrage, dont elle nous a confié les premiers détails. Il s’agira d’un film en costumes, situé dans une période de guerre, et qui racontera une histoire d’amour “lyrique et brûlante” entre une française et un jeune américain. Afin d’incarner ce dernier, la réalisatrice de 36 ans a déjà rencontré plusieurs acteurs, parmi lesquels James Franco et Robert Pattinson, qui auraient manifesté leur intérêt pour le projet. “Le casting avance mais on est encore à l’étape des rencontres, des discussions”, commente Houda Benyamina, qui dit vouloir rester fidèle à ses méthodes de tournage guérilla et intenses éprouvées sur Divines.

Houda Benyanmina is thinking about doing a movie with James Franco or Robert Pattinson

(...) Houda Benyanmina, who was still unknown eight months ago, didn't come to Los Angeles to promote her movie [Divines]. She has already started to work on her next movie, and she gave us the first details. It will be a period movie, which will take place during a war period and that will tell the "lyrical and consuming" love story between a French girl and a young American. The 36 years old director has already met several actors who could play the young American, among them James Franco and Robert Pattinson, who expressed their interest in the project. "We are working on the casting but we are only at the meeting stage, the talking”, says Houda Benyamina, who adds that she wants to stay faithful to her guerrilla and intense filming methods as she used during Divines.

It's not the first time both actors expressed their interest for French cinema. (...) You may not know the name Houda Benyamina, but you’re probably going to hear much more about her. The filmmaker made waves with her feature debut “Divines,” which won the Camera d’Or at Cannes, and was snapped up by none other than Netflix. The movie is now streaming on the service, and Hollywood has taken note, with the director landing an American agent, and it has allowed her to meet with some name brand actors about her next movie.

According to Les InRocks, James Franco and Robert Pattinson are among the actors that Benyamina has discussed her next project with. The untitled film is apparently a love story and costume drama set against the backdrop of war, but there’s no further details at the moment. It all seems pretty early on, and casting still down the line, but it speaks to the heat Benyamina has generated that she’s nabbing this kind of attention from Hollywood types.

We’ll keep an ear to the ground for more details, but until then, maybe spent some of Thanksgiving weekend catching up with “Divines” and seeing what all the fuss is about.

Nous présentons cette semaine un court-métrage réalisé par Josh Safdie – un de nos réalisateurs américains préférés – alors qu’il était étudiant à l’université de Boston. Safdie, qui a grandi et vit à New York, a co-réalisé avec son frère de nombreux et brillants courts-métrages ainsi que quatre longs-métrages, tous salués par la critique – leur dernier Mad Love in New York (2015) compris. En dix ans, les frères Safdie se sont imposés comme deux des voix les plus intéressantes du nouveau cinéma américain, grâce à une style personnel qui combine leur amour pour New York et ses personnages éclectiques et leur profonde passion pour le septième art. We are presenting this week a short made by Josh Safdie, one of our favorite American directors, while he was still a film student in Boston. Safdie, who grew up and lives in New York, has co-directed with his brother Benny a great series of short films and four critically acclaimed features including their latest Heaven Knows What (2015). In the past ten years, they have established themselves as two of the most interesting voices in new American cinema, developing a personal style that blends their love for New York City and its eclectic characters with a true passion for the art of cinema. They recently finished shooting Good Time, starring Robert Pattinson as a bank robber on the run, which will be released by A24 next year. (...) 

What projects are you working on right now? It’s a blessing to have something to get lost in at every waking moment. We’re working a lot and keeping sane somehow. We’re currently finishing Good Time, this fugitive film charged by a warped perspective of brotherly love, which is going to be released sometime in 2017.(...)
