La Réalisatrice Française Houda Benyamina ('Divines') Rêve de Travailler avec ...? Robert Pattinson!

On a beaucoup entendu parler de la réalisatrice Française Houda Benyamina en Mai dernier à Cannes, car elle a remporté un prix et pas des moindres: celui de la Caméra d'Or, prix du meilleur premier film, pour son film 'Divines'! Et aujourd'hui avec qui souhaiterais t-elle travailler? Avec Rob! Ci-dessous des extraits d'interviews dans lesquelles elle parle de cette envie de collaborer avec lui.

Via Konbini : La réalisatrice est interrogée sur le fait de travailler avec des acteurs célèbres pour ses futurs projets:

(...) Il y a des acteurs comme ça qui me font kiffer, comme Tom Hardy, comme Robert Pattinson… Pattinson je trouve que c’est un mec sous-exploité. Je suis sûre que tu peux en faire un truc de ouf. Mais s’il arrive avec sa caravane, c’est sûr qu’il ne pourra pas faire un truc avec moi. Faire des films pour moi, c’est un métier comme celui de boulanger : tu te lèves à six heures du matin, tu pétris ta pâte… Donc demain, si je travaille avec quelqu’un de connu, il faudra que l’on revienne à quelque chose de simple. (...) Vous êtes actuellement en projet d'écriture. Vous pouvez nous en dire un peu plus ?

Ce sera une grande histoire d'amour, relatée sur trente ans, sur fond politique. Un film sur la liberté et la trahison. Il ne sera pas tourné en banlieue (rires, NDLR). Oulaya, ma sœur, est déjà en casting et l'acteur principal sera américain. Mon agent outre-Atlantique m'a demandé vers quel profil je voulais me tourner et je lui ai parlé de Robert Pattinson.

Robert Pattinson ?!

Ce mec a un potentiel dingue ! Il a un côté très animal, il a une intériorité vraiment riche. Le problème, c'est qu'il surfe toujours malgré lui sur la vague de Twilight. Mais je pense vraiment que c'est un acteur en devenir. Il y a énormément de choses à aller chercher chez lui. Il n'a pas encore explosé. Je pense qu'on pourrait faire de grandes choses ensemble. Rob adore les réalisateurs français et apparemment ils l'adorent aussi! Nous sommes curieuses de voir si ce projet arrivera jusqu'aux oreilles de Rob et si il voudra lui aussi travailler avec Houda Benyamina!

We heard a lot about the French director Houda Benyamina last May in Cannes since she won a prize and a great one: the Camera d'Or, for best first film, for her film 'Divines'! And today who she wants to work with? With Rob! Below are excerpts from interviews in which she talks about her wish to work with him.

From Konbini : The journalist asks the director about working with famous actors for her future projects:

(...) There are actors that i like a lot, like Tom Hardy, like Robert Pattinson ... I think Pattinson is under-exploited. I'm sure you can create something incredible with him. But if he comes with his trailer, for sure he wouldn't work with me. Making movies for me, it's a job like to be a baker: you get up at six in the morning, you knead your dough ... So tomorrow, if i work with someone famous, they will have to go back to something simple. (...)

From Madame Figaro : 

(...) You're currently writing a new script. You can tell us a little more about it?
It will be a great love story, told over a thirty years period, with a political background. A movie about freedom and betrayal. It won't be filmed in the suburbs (laughs). Oulaya, my sister, is already doing the casting and the main actor will be American. My American agent asked me what kind of profile I was looking for and I told her about Robert Pattinson.

This guy has an incredible potential! He has a very animalistic side, and a really rich interiority. The problem is that, despite himself, he is still riding the Twilight wave. But I really think he is an actor in the making. There is plenty to get from him. He has not exploded yet. I think we could do great things together. (...)

Rob loves French directors and it seems they love him too! We are curious to see if this project will come to Rob's ears and if he will want to work with Houda Benyamina too!

Robert Pattinson portait une guitar et un fusil accrochés sur son dos alors qu'il débutait le tournage de son nouveau film Damsel ce jeudi en Oregon.
L'acteur de 30 ans joue dans un Western/drame aux cotés de l'actrice Australienne de 26 ans Mia Wasikowska.
Le film écrit par les frères Zellner et réalisé par David Zellner suit un homme d'affaire qui voyage dans l'Ouest pour rejoindre sa fiancée dans les montagnes.
Robert semblait prêt pour l'aventure alors qu'il déambulait avec une veste en cuir à double boutonnage, un jean et des boots en cuir.
Il portait également un pistolet dans son étui et une ceinture de munitions autour de la taille.
La star de Twilight a enfilé un fedora beige et portait un bouc pour son personnage.
Robert a été vu marchant avec un poney et le nourrissant à l'aide d'un sac de nourriture.
Il a aussi été vu en train d'utiliser un marteau sur un bateau en bois et aussi à ramer l'embarcation avec une boite à bord sur laquelle il était marqué fragile.
Mia a aussi été vu dans le bateau en train de ramer, avec le poney à la proue.
Robert a plusieurs films en préparation comme The Lost City Of Z et Good Time qui sont tout deux en post-production.
Il a dernièrement été vu dans le drame historique The Childhood Of A Leader qui est sorti en juin dans les cinémas US et à la demande.

The movie written by the Zellner Bros and directed by David Zellner follows a businessman who travels West to join his fiancee in the mountains.
Robert looked ready for adventure as he strode about in a double-breasted leather jacket, denim pants and leather boots.
He also had a pistol holstered and wore an ammunition belt filled with bullets around his waist.
The Twilight star donned a tan fedora and sported a goatee for his character.
Robert was seen leading a miniature horse and using a feedbag to provide a snack.
He also was seen pounding a hammer on a wooden boat and rowing it along with a box aboard labeled as fragile.
Mia also was spotted rowing the boat with the little horse in the bow.
Robert has several film projects in the works including The Lost City Of Z and Good Time that are both in post-production.
He was last seen in the historical drama The Childhood Of A Leader that was released in June in US theaters and on-demand.

Brady Corbet Talks about Working with Rob Again, More Praises and a New Project for Rob with Mona Fastvold!

Brady Corbet Parle de Retravailler avec Rob, Fait le Plein d’Éloges, et un Nouveau Projet pour Rob avec Mona Fastvold!

Brady explique pourquoi il a choisi Rob pour le rôle de Charles dans 'The Childhood of a Leader', et qu'il retravaillera avec lui dans le futur, mais il ne sait pas encore si ça sera sur son prochain film. Il est très élogieux le concernant, tout comme le sont les Frères Safdie avec qui Rob a tourné 'Good Time'. Nous apprenons aussi qu'un nouveau projet serait en cours pour Rob, le nouveau film de Mona Fastvold (la compagne et collaboratrice de Brady), du nom de The Bleaching Yard.

So many great words about Rob from Brady and the Safdie brothers. Every person who work with Rob has incredible things to say about him. We really hope they are going to work again together. And great news about Rob working with Mona again in her new project The Bleaching Yard!

Vu ce qu'il pense très franchement de la mythologie de la culture du fan, c'est ironique qu'il ait choisi Pattinson pour son film, sachant que l'acteur s'est construit une base de fans passionnés depuis des années avec les films Twilight, avec de nombreux sites de fans dédiés à son travail et également avec l'abréviation internet RPatz. Corbet dit qu'il trouvait intéressant d'utiliser certaines attentes à son avantage.

"C'est vraiment bizarre," dit Corbet "Il y a plusieurs choses. Tout d'abord, je ne suis pas tant que ça familier avec l'idée de Rob en tant que célébrité, parce que je le connais depuis longtemps et je ne l'ai pas connu de cette façon. Ensuite il y a que je pensais que ça pourrait être très très intéressant d'avoir cette sorte d'effet à la Janet Leigh dans Psycho, quand il y a une personne qui est un personnage public, dont les gens regardent tous les faits et gestes, il est intéressant, il est charismatique, il est captivant, il est bel homme. Et j'ai pensé que ça donnerait vraiment du poids aux 20 premières minutes du film. Alors je l'ai engagé pour toutes ces raisons. Je l'ai engagé parce que le rôle était écrit pour un jeune homme un peu plus jeune que le personnage féminin, bel homme et Anglais, alors j'ai pensé à lui.

"Tout ceux qui ont passé du temps avec lui savent combien c'est un gros bosseur et qu'il ne se plains jamais. Je discutais avec les frères Safdie, qui ont tourné un nouveau film avec lui [Good Time], et Josh me disait, ‘Mec, on a tourné durant 19h par jour et putain il ne s'est pas plains une seule fois.’ Ils étaient juste super impressionnés par son éthique professionnelle et je le suis aussi. Je pense que lui et moi allons travailler ensemble pendant longtemps."

Corbet ne sait pas encore pour sur si Pattinson sera dans son prochain film Vox Lux. "C'est un gros casting et c'est un film de groupe et je dois encore trouver l'âge de chaque personnage en relation avec les autres," dit il, mais la star Britannique travaille avec la femme de Corbet et aussi sa collaboratrice Mona Fastvold sur son prochain film The Bleaching Yard.

"C'est un drame d'époque," dit Corbet "L'inspiration de base est un auteur Norvégien très connu nommé Tarjei Vesaas et elle a basé son histoire dans une communauté de pêcheurs de baleines dans les années 1940, ce qui n'est pas dans le livre. C'est vraiment super. Nous le faisons en collaboration avec Chris Cohen qui a produit Childhood ainsi que ses producteurs de The Sleepwalker. C'est la première fois qu'en tant que famille nous travaillons sur deux projets différents." (...)

Given that he feels so strongly about the mythology of fan culture, it's ironic that he has cast Pattinson in the film, as the actor has built up an ardent following in the years since the Twilight films, with a large number of fan sites dedicated to his work and even the internet-friendly abbreviation RPatz. Corbet says he was interesting in using certain expectations to his advantage.

"It’s really bizarre," says Corbet "There’s a couple of things. First of all, I’m not that connected to the notion of Rob as a celebrity, because I’ve known him for a long time and I didn’t discover him that way. The other thing is that I thought it would be really, really interesting to have this sort of Janet Leigh in Psycho effect, where you have someone who is a public figure and people have their eye on him, he’s interesting, he’s charismatic, he’s compelling, he’s handsome. And I thought, that it would really give weight to the first 20 minutes of the film. So I hired him for all of those reasons. I hired him because the role was written for a young man that was a bit younger than the female character, handsome and English, so I thought of him.

"Anyone who has spent any time with the guy will know that he’s super hard-working and he never complains. I was just talking to the Safdie brothers, who are directing a new film with him [Good Time], and Josh was like, ‘Dude, we were shooting 19 hour days and he didn’t fucking complain once.’ They were just amazed by his work ethic and so am I. I think he and I will work together for a long time."

Corbet isn't sure yet whether Pattinson will feature in his next film Vox Lux yet. "It's a big cast and it’s an ensemble piece and I have to work out what age everyone is in relationship to each other," he says, but the British star is working with Corbet's wife and collaborator Mona Fastvold on her upcoming film The Bleaching Yard.

"It’s a period drama," says Corbet "The source material is from a very famous Norwegian author called Tarjei Vesaas and she’s set it in a whaling community in the 1940s, which is not in the book. It’s really great. We’re making that with Chris Cohen who produced Childhood as well and her producers from The Sleepwalker. This is the first time as a family that we have made two separate projects." (...)
